Getting to know the Macintosh computers

To begin, take a look around, get familiar with the Macintosh Desktop. As you see the Desktop of a Mac is setup differently than the desktop setup of a PC. There are no icons except the Macintosh HD, Spare, a Downloads folder, and an Icon that should have your user name. As you look at the desktop you will see a NetWare login screen were you log on to the network. What if the Login screen is not present? Then go up the top right hand side and you will see a tree. If the tree has leaves on it, then the computer is connected to another person account. To log the person off or bring up the Login screen, just click on the tree and you should get some options. The option that you need to choose is Logout. When you have selected Logout option, the login screen will appear. Then from this point you can Login to the network. When you login, the icon with your user name will pop up under the Downloads folder (that icon is your N: drive if you where on a PC).
Please Note-- After you have logged on to the network, you will have to manually close the NetWare login screen or you will not be able to print. Also remember to logout when you are done using the computer.

The Desktop of a Mac

After you have login and shut the NetWare login screen, at the bottom of the screen is a row of Icons that are your applications, which is shown above. Icons from left to right:
